8th International Conference of the IMS Regional Association for the Study of Music of the Balkans: Musical Cultures and Diasporas in the Balkans

The Conference investigates the enormous wealth of musical traditions on the Balkans, focussing on people and repertories ranging from folk and traditional musics, soundscapes, art musics, church music and contemporary music, inquired through historical, philosophical, systematic, anthropological and social perspectives, and viewed in the light of plethora of methodological approaches, both interdisciplinary and interartistic.

With the participation of around 100 scholars and musicians from Greece and other countries of the world.

The Conference will take place:
For August 31st and September 1st: The Teloglion Fine Arts Foundation.
For September 2nd: Foyer of the School of Music Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
