Final Concert Conducting Masterclass

The LWI Conducting Masterclass & Competition seminar/competition continues the collaboration between the Symphony Orchestra of the Department of Music Studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and the student orchestra of the University of Tübingen in Germany.

The two artistic directors of the orchestras, Vladimiros Simeonidis and Simeon Ioannidis respectively, began in the summer of 2023 with joint concerts in Greece and planned further exchanges and joint concerts in Germany to continue and deepen the collaboration and to broaden the artistic and cultural interaction among the young students.

LWI mainly supports Greek conductors from the Department of Music Studies with scholarships for their participation and the opportunity to compete for a concert prize. The prize includes a performance with the Symphony Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki in the next artistic season.

The main goal is to inform young conductors about the requirements of European universities and to prepare them for entrance exams as well as for filling conductor positions in orchestras and operas abroad.

The final concert will take place in the Ceremony Hall and will be covered by Deutsche Welle, showcasing the prestige of AUTH and the Department of Music Studies at a European level.
