The “Choir Workshop” was founded in October 2016. Its members are students who are particularly interested in the study and presentation of choral music. The group’s repertoire focuses on a Capella music, -renaissance, classical and contemporary- , while special emphasis is given to the works by contemporary Greek composers.
In November 2016, the group participated in a choral meeting of the Greek University Choirs that took place at the Athens Concert Hall, receiving excellent reviews. The group is frequently singing in concerts and formal ceremonies in the Aristotle University including the medal award ceremony “Golden Aristotle” for the Archbishop of Albania, Anastasios. They also frequently participate in scientific events and international symposiums organized by the Department of Music Studies. In June 2017, the “Choir Workshop” collaborated with the Symphony Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, in the performance of “Coronation Mass” by W. A. Mozart. In December 2017 they performed “Gloria” by A. Vivaldi with the Aristotle University Orchestra. They participated also in the 2019 festive New Year’s concert organized by the Thessaloniki State Orchestra, singing in Beethoven’s 9th symphony. In November 2019 they participated in the performance of Mozart’s Requiem with the Symphony Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, in a concert dedicated to the memory of Antonis Kontogeorgiou.
The group continues its activity dynamically, constantly enriching its repertoire and expanding its collaborations with other choirs and cultural organizations in Greece and abroad.
