Coordination: Giorgos Sakallieros
The workshop is directed towards student guitarists, as well as student performers of other instruments who are interested in collaborating with classical guitarists in chamber music settings. It addresses issues such as the relationship between technique, aesthetic interpretation and analytical / structural understanding of a musical work; the guitar’s relationship to other instruments and their repertoire (e.g. violin or piano in the 18th or 19th century); guitar works by famous non-guitarist composers, Greek repertoire for the guitar, transcriptions and their significance, as well as the processes of forming an ensemble with guitar, practicing in this context, and developing a shared approach to musical interpretation.
